At an election night speech during the primaries, Donald Trump questioned Hillary Clinton’s qualifications by saying, “The only thing she’s got is the woman card.” In response, and in what became a rallying cry for many supporters, Hillary said, “If fighting for women’s healthcare and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in.”
In just two days, this symbolic and literal card broke fundraising records for amount raised and number of first-time donors recruited. We reached supporters in all corners of the United States, bringing women and men together during what became an increasingly misogynistic election cycle.
